Safaga Travel Information
What to Expect from Safaga?
Also called Port Safage, this is a beautiful coastal town and a friendly one at that. The town is linked with a cruise shuttle service traveling to Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Naturally speaking, the resort is well known for its peaceful atmosphere, its clean rivers and land, black sand dunes and therapeutic mineral springs.
Safaga has actually earned a reputation for being a therapeutic tourist attraction, because of its mineral springs, which are said to help alleviate rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis, as well as other medical research performed in the area. The black sand dune beaches are favored by sun bathers, while the sea water (unusually high in saline and minerals) is considered very beneficial for skin.
Port Safaga in the Riviera is very kind to its tourist and offers modest but quaint bungalows and rest houses, the most notable being the Safaga Hotel. Besides its therapeutic appeal, Safaga also attracts tourists because of its scuba diving activities.
Scuba Diving and other Water Sports
Scuba Diving in Safaga features some exciting Red Sea diving, where you can see the chain reefs of Abu Qifan and Tobia Arbaa, as well as the walls of Panorama, and many species of tuna, shark and manta.
Not only is Port Safaga in the Riviera worth seeing for its own unique attractions, it is also a convenient location to start a trip into the Eastern Desert or back towards Luxor.
It’s interesting to note that while Safaga was once primarily known as a merchant port, it is now a popular sports destination, thanks in part to its shimmering beaches and beautiful islands. You may notice that many of Safaga’s visitors are very into sports, such as kite surfing and windsurfing and various water sports.
Safaga is a relaxing alternative to the crowded destinations around Cairo and Luxor. It also has an ideal location so that you can come relax even after a whole day of sightseeing!
