For example, many Nile cruise holidays will start in Cairo where travelers spend some time viewing the historic sites such as the pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum. Many will include a scenic Cairo Nile dinner cruise or casual sail in a felucca before flying guests to the southern embarkation areas of Luxor or Aswan.

Explore the Historic Attractions

Once they have set sail, many Nile cruise holidays make a point of stopping in historically or culturally significant towns. A typical seven day itinerary from Luxor would include land tours at the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. Such locations would provide visits to the tomb of Tutankhamen and the famous temple of Queen Hatshepsut. A stop in this location would also allow a traveler to see the temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak as well.

Heading south some Nile cruise holidays will stop at Edfu in order to view the temple of Horus or the Kom Ombo temple a bit farther down river.

At Aswan visitors will be able to see such sights as the temple of Philae which was rescued from the flooding of Lake Nasser during the construction of the Aswan Dam. Most Nile cruise holidays will also take guests to Abu Simbel, a famous structure that was also relocated during the flooding of the lake.
