Travel the Mediterranean Coast of Egypt
There are many areas of Egypt known throughout the rest of the world, but the Mediterranean Coast, Egypt (Egypt's Northern Coastline) is a lesser known region full of beautiful beaches, cozy fishing towns and excellent accommodations and amenities. From Mersa Matrouh and Alexandria to Port Said, there is a great deal to see, do and enjoy!
In the Roman era, the Mediterranean coast of Egypt was nothing but a heavily rain-dependent farming region. Now the "Northern Coast" is the gateway to Egypt, stretching on the northwest all the way from just east of El-Ameria, along the Mediterranean Sea coast for 525 km, to just west of El-Sallum.

Development and Construction
The government has a lot of confidence that the future of this region will be quite prosperous, so they have spared no effort in developing it. The work really began in 1978. Since then, there have been many comprehensive planning studies, and many luxurious tourist sites have been built.
By 1983, the Mediterranean Coast of Egypt was already becoming a landmark. Engineers had managed to extend potable water lines all the way from Alexandria to Mersa Matrouh. More than 260 km of the Alex-Matrouh on-shore road was paved. Power stations were constructed.
You will also find attractive tourist villages, including beautiful beaches, houses, and all sorts of public service units. In addition, another 121 sites are under consideration for private locations - this is besides the three models already built by the Construction Ministry, i.e., the "Marakia," "Marabella," and "Marina" resorts.
The Marble-Like Nature of Marakia
Due to its marble-like nature, Marakia was originally known as "Marmarina" in the old times. The name is extracted from the Arabic word "marmar", meaning marble. A crystal-clear sea and pure sand are its two main characteristics.
Found on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, its beach is 1500 meters long; its downstream surface is 100 meters. There is a pedestrian road that separates it from the housing units. The public service units are in both the middle of the village and at its main entrance, including administrative, emergency, communication, commercial, and entertainment services. The entertainment facilities include restaurants, a cinema and an open theater. There is also an airport that serves this area.
At the village entrance stands an 800-person capacity mosque. A lot of space is devoted to courtyards and public gardens. Even better, further expansions are planned.
The Beautiful Sea of Marina

One may gain an accurate mental picture of Marina from the meaning of its name, "the beautiful sea". It is 15 km from Marakia, 750 meters of beach, and its downstream surface is 800 meters. The total surface is about 143 feddans. There are quite a few public service units on the beach. The housing unit are made up of of 34 villas, 264 flats, and 672 cabins. In the middle of the village is a handy center for administrative, commercial, medical, religious, and entertainment services. All in all, Marina is a very pleasant place to vacation.
Nearby, also on the beach, is Marina-Alameen. It is also on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, about 100 km from Alexandria, and its surface is nearly 5000 feddans. There is a very nice beach and plenty of housing units, both public and private. You can golf, horseback ride, and participate in many other activities. There are also great facilities and courtyards there.
In fact, Marina-Alameen is exceptional in both natural and historical respects. You will enjoy its large forests and natural, deep lakes. The sea-linked lakes help with water renewal, shipping, and fisheries. Plus, Marina-Alameen is just loaded with beautiful, historic Greek and Roman monuments of all kinds. Also, and interestingly, what with their having been involved in World War II as a staging area, there is an allied soldiers' cemetery to be found there. This cemetery is known as El Alamein.
