Exploring Nightlife in Cairo

Explore the magic of the East as it blends with the arts of the West through Cairo's exciting nightlife. The casinos and famous nightclubs provide a wide range of entertainment including oriental belly dancing, folklore and international shows.
Cairo by Night
There’s nothing quite like sampling international nightlife, especially if it’s nightlife in Cairo, one of the largest cities worldwide. Socially speaking, Cairo has a nice mix of historical majesty and vibrant modernism. They have just as many theatres and bars as they do ancient relics. There is also a thriving nightlife in Cairo that tourists from all over the world can enjoy.
Egyptian Etiquette
Before choosing a hotspot or two to explore, make sure and brush up on your Egyptian etiquette. Egypt is predominantly Muslim so be respectful of the Islam religion and Egyptian culture. Women usually wear modest clothing when walking around the city center. That aside, what are some Cairo nightlife spots you can look for when the sun sets?
Absolute Nightclub
For starters, there is the Absolute nightclub, a spacious club on the Nile side. The club has an in-house DJ and they play techno music with an Arabic twist. The club is exclusive, though some tourists have remarked that “looking Western” can help you towards the front of the line, since it is assumed you may have a lot of money. (And hey, if you’re visiting Cairo, then you’re probably not doing too bad!)
Deals, International Tavern
Deals is another big name in Cairo nightlife and has some very unique decoration, consisting of records on the wall and televisions hanging from the ceiling. This is more of an international tavern, ideal for talking to some of the locals, and the staff is said to be very friendly.
Jazz-Up, Nile Hilton
Jazz-Up is located at the Nile Hilton hotel and offers an eclectic mix of live music, including jazz, band and salsa. Tourists state the club can be loud at times, but that the staff is always friendly and happy to introduce you to some Egyptian drinks.
L'Aubergine
L'Aubergine is a popular club for young visitors and boasts the most powerful sound system of all Cairo nightlife. Like all major nightclubs, it’s best to call ahead to reserve a table. The Morocco club features a mix of both eastern and western beats while the Odeon Palace Bar (located at the Odeon Palace Hotel) offers a rooftop bar and mother-of-pearl tables. Pub 28 offers a mix of hard drink and full meals, as well as tourists and permanent expatriates. Finally, there’s the Sangria, which operates as both a restaurant and a nightclub and offers a great view of the Nile River.
There is plenty of nightlife in Cairo to look for, so look western, be nice and enjoy some world-class Cairo hospitality.
