In Cairo you'll find both Yellow Taxis and Black and White Taxis but what are the differences between them?
Yellow Taxis in Cairo
The yellow cabs are available by booking through their hotlines. They are air-conditioned and the drivers speak adequate English. Fees are calculated by a meter, are payable by either credit card or cash, and are not negotiable.
Due to undetermined traffic complications, bear in mind to book three hours in advance. In addition, you can find them at specific places, such as the airport, and in front of most major shopping centers and tourist sites.

Black and White Taxis in Cairo
Probably the most common means of transportation in the city, these black and white cars are readily available at any time anywhere. So, hailing a taxi is never a problem. Once inside, name and negotiate your price (as they do NOT work by meter), and you're on your way. Most drivers do not speak English.
You can ask your hotel information or tour guide regarding fair prices that vary according to destination.
It is also common for these taxis to pick up extra passengers heading in the same direction, so do not be hesitant to refuse.
